WING Feed the Need Food Drive

PLAN would like to say a great big THANK YOU to the Women in Business Networking Group.

Recently the Women in Business Networking Group (WING) Held a Womens Night Out event to Feed the Need. They raised money to purchase a mobile food pantry from the Northern Illinois Food Bank to give out meals to PLAN families. A Mobile Pantry is a traveling food pantry that delivers food directly to hungry people in need. The 35-foot truck carries nonperishable food, like rice, canned protein sources, pasta, and breakfast cereals. It also has refrigerated bays for fresh and frozen food, like vegetables, fruits, bread, red meat, poultry, pork and seafood.

Through the efforts of WING's Womens Night Out enough money was raised to purchase three visits from the mobile food pantry.

PLAN is a non-for profit organization that networks with individuals to assist the needy living in Lake County Illinois.

PLAN is known as the People Lending Assistance Network. We believe in making a difference in local communities by giving free food, clothing, appliances, education and job assistance to individuals and families.

PLAN knows that we can make a difference one person at a time!

PLAN opened its door's in 2007 and in our first two years 30,000 individuals in households in our area were given assistance. Forty percent of the members we serve are children under 18 years old; at least 5 percent of those we serve are homeless.

In addition to helping our less fortunate neighbors with supplemental nonperishable food items, PLAN accepts and gives away new and used clothing, household items and furniture, as well as sundries such as diapers, personal care supplies and household cleaning products. All items are donated to us by generous individuals, organizations and students.

As an extension of PLAN the LIFE Center stands for Leadership, Instruction, Family management and Education.
